Metakgp:Membership
MetaKGP is an open community of students collaborating on projects and, unlike other societies, does not have formal selections. The main platform of communication used, Slack, is open for everyone, and projects developed are open-source. Each project has maintainers who control its development, and the process of selecting maintainers is described here. Membership in the metakgp Github organization grants no extra privileges but is offered to long-time maintainers for recognition, as described here. The responsibilities and selection procedure of the society admins (governors), is described in Metakgp:Governance.
Github Organization Membership
The metakgp Github organization hosts all the projects developed and maintained by MetaKGP. Project maintainers are added as External Collaborators on Github and do not need to be a member of the organization. Membership also does not grant any extra privileges. However, organization membership is granted in the following cases:
- All admins are added to the organization and given adminstrative privileges.
- Project maintainers who have been active for at least one month (including contributions before becoming maintainer) are sent an invite to join the organization. They may choose to decline it.
- Note: If they are a maintainer in a newly created or adopted project, the project itself must be at least one semester old.
- [TBD] should long-time contributors who decline project maintainership be invited?
